Project Type: Layout Design
Year: 2024

Key Takeaways
Takeaways: One of the biggest things I learned from this project was how important layout is. Finding a design that’s both easy to read and flexible enough to fit everything I needed was more challenging than I expected. It took some trial and error, but I came away with a better understanding of how layout can make or break how a piece is received.
Successes: What I love most about this project is the overall aesthetic. It’s super eye-catching and has this great nostalgic feel that really connects with early Nintendo branding. I think the visual consistency is a big strength—it feels cohesive and intentional, which helps reinforce the historical aspect of the topic. It just works.
Changes: I’m really happy with how this piece turned out, but if I could go back, I’d probably scale down the size of the source citations. Right now, they’re taking up a little too much space and pulling attention away from the main content. A smaller, more subtle placement would free up room to let the important information shine.
Using This Experience for the Future: This project showed me how valuable it is to be able to communicate information clearly through design. As a web developer, I know that being able to create clean, visually engaging layouts is a huge asset. This experience strengthened my ability to organize content in a way that’s both functional and visually appealing, something that’s key to building great user interfaces. Moving forward, I’ll carry these skills with me, especially when working on dashboards, landing pages, or any part of a site where the user needs to quickly process info. It’s also a reminder that even small design decisions, like font size or spacing, can have a big impact on how effective a piece is.
